Great
news for all America’s Next Top Model British Invasion (Cycle 18) fans, you can
still watch replays of past episodes through ETC channel 12 (in the
Philippines). This VHF channel is airing rewinds of the previous episodes of
the show every Monday night at 8 PM, Manila time zone.

The
season is actually over with 21 years old Sophie Sumner from Oxford, England
bagging home the fabulous prizes and literally invading the American modeling scene
with her beauty and talent. Laura LaFrate, 20, from Scotia, New York is a runner
up. Other contestants included the following:

The
names are listed in accordance with their appearance on the show with the first
name being the first to be eliminated. Alisha and Louise though were not eliminated in the
show as they quit in episodes 10 and 3 respectively. All British models already
participated in a similar modeling platform; Britain’s Next Top Model and
represented previously concluded seasons of the show.
Finale
Although I wasn’t a fan of the final two contestants
(being a fan of Ashley Brown), they both exemplified what modeling is all about
during the finale. Laura in particular suffered a panic attack during the CoverGirl
infomercial shoot. She said it was the first time she ever experienced one due
to pressure, but she was able to rise above it and was amazing during the Vogue
Italia shoot. Sophie was also exceptional during the challenges for the finale
so it was definitely a head to head battle between the two models.
Judges
During the final deliberation, one of the judges Kelly
Cutrone rooted for Sophie and her determination from being a runner up
during one of the season’s Britain’s Next Top Model to becoming yet a contender
again for the finale. Other judges were Nigel Barker who was also a resident photographer
for the show and Jay Manuel who mentored the finalists.
Prizes
The products mentioned earlier are some of the major
sponsors of the show. The other sponsors each have a share of the prizes given
away including the following:
- A modeling contract with LA Models & NY Model Management. This was Tyra Banks previous modeling management company.
- An opportunity to become a guest correspondent placement for the Extra news magazine.
- A fashion spread for Vogue Italia and a cover plus a spread in Beauty in Vogue.
- Endorsement for America’s Next Top Model perfume "Dream Come True."
- A recording single for CBS Records.
- $100,000 US contract with CoverGirl cosmetics
