Starting next week, these same names will
be performing live on television over ABS-CBN on Saturdays and will wait for
the results of audience votes the following day, Sunday. Two contestants with the
lowest number of votes will be in danger of being sent home. They will then
battle for the opportunity to continue with the journey towards becoming the
first ever X Factor Philippines grand winner and bring home a total of 4
million pesos worth of prizes. The judges will deliberate and choose who will
be sent home between the two contestants. In case of a dead lock, the actual
contender with the lowest audience votes will be eliminated.
The
Judges Home
The judges’ home round for X Factor
Philippines wasn’t held at any of the judges real homes, unlike the original
franchise. It was held at various locations including Tagaytay Highlands for mentor Gary V., Balai Isabel in Batangas for judge Martin Nievera, Bellevue Manila for Charice, and a mansion somewhere in Manila for Ms. Pilita.
The X Factor Philippines top 20 contestants who were chosen last week were assigned to their respective mentor judges. Charice Pempengco is for the girls, Martin Nievera is for the boys, Gary Valenciano is for the groups, and Ms. Pilita Corales is for the over 25.

During the top 20’s performances at the judge’s
homes, each judge invited a special guest who helped them decide who will be
the top 12 contestants. It’s Chesa (finalist for The Voice, a US singing
competition with a unique format) for Charice, Arnel Pineda for Martin, Jed
Madela for Gary, and Rico J. Puno for Ms. Pilita.
There wasn’t a bloody deliberation this
time around. All judges did respect their guest’s choice and actually took note
of their opinion. In fact, the guest judges had a huge impact in choosing X
Factor Philippines’ top 12.
Talent
and Appeal
Like last week’s top 20, choosing the top
12 were based on the show’s criteria as well as each judge’s interpretation of
it. The bottom line, as always, is who has the so called X Factor?
KZ Tandingan, who made a mark through her unforgettable
audition, is unquestionably part of who will sing for the home viewer’s votes. Jerrianne Templo has the complete
package so they say so there’s no question about her being chosen. But it’s Allen
Jane Sta. Maria which I didn’t agree about. I think Abigail Mendoza will have a
better following and will inspire more people due to her background and
personal preferences.
I would also say the same for Paulo Castro, being a
self confessed gay person. Cristine Ledesma can also offer more, I believe
compared to the three who were chosen. Joan Da and Mark Mabasa are both just
ok. Modesto Taran is an unexpected inclusion to the list, like when he was
added to the top 20. Well, the X Factor is all about talent and appeal anyways.
Not just physical appeal but mass appeal.
The same can be said of Kedebon Lim, whom Martin
said wasn’t a great belter like the others but has that quality which the
masses will love. Jeric Medina will be loved by women of all ages for sure because
of talent, appeal, and inspiration in relation to his enormous weight loss due
to personal determination. Gabriel Maturan is just fine. What’s sad is that the
head turners Anton Paolo Antenocruz
(remember that assistant manager from Singapore?) and Michael Pangilinan
(16 years old swooner) were not included. They would have made girls swoon. But
that’s not what the show is all about anyway.
The Lucky Girls who were luckily chosen
from the girls who were not listed for the 20, made it but not due to luck.
They worked well as a group even if there were individual contenders before. It’s
the opposite fate for 5th Avid as well as Sweet Bliss though. Both were
found lacking. Daddy’s Home and Take Off who were both among the X Factor Philippines early favorites will move on the next round.
Who
will emerge as the winner of X Factor Philippines?
The next question now will be “who will emerge
as the winner of X Factor Philippines?” We are yet to know. For the mean time,
why not join the poll below and let’s tally up the votes?
