Only the X Factor Philippines top 10
contestants remain and it’s week 3 performance night tonight. These are what
the contenders have performed for tonight’s rock themed week (in order of performance):
Kedebon Colim – Footloose by Kenny Loggins
AKAJAM - Survivor by Destiny’s Child
Allen Jane Sta. Maria – Bitch by Meredith
Brooks
Modesto Taran – To Love Somebody by The Bee
Gees/Michael Bolton
Jeric Medina – Lips of an Angel by Hinder
Daddy’s Home – Superstition by Stevie
Wonder
Gabriel Maturan – Breakeven by Script
Joan Da – You Oughta Know by Alanis
Morisette
Take Off – Makita Kang Muli by Sugarfree
KZ Tandingan – In the End by Linkin Park
I don’t want to single out any contestant
but most of them messed up tonight. That’s all I can say, period. J
Top 10 Girls
Okay, I take it back. I want to single out
contenders. KZ rocked personality wise. She never wavered from being herself
and who she is, including her genre of music although I don’t really like her
rendition of that all time favorite In the End from Linkin Park. Allen’s song
doesn’t fit her age, personality, and vocal range. Thus, she missed the high
notes and cowered in falsetto. Comments over X Factor Philippines’s Facebook
page is right, an Avril Lavigne or anything with soft vocals should have been
chosen for her instead.
Top 10 Boys
As always, Jeric played it safe. The song
is safe for what his vocal range can reach so it was just OK. Ms. Jackie Lou
Blanco by the way wasn’t watching exclusively for him. She is Ms. Pilita’s
daughter remember? J
Gabriel on the other hand was lacking with that song. It’s actually one of the most
powerful songs from the Script and it would have been safer if he took on The Man
Who Can’t be Moved or any other song from the same band with softer vocals. Lastly,
Kedebon was eating most of the lyrics of his song and a lot of people say the
same thing. But as always, the judges are soft with comments. I had to use the
words soft and safe as well as variations of these words a lot of times because
that’s all I saw tonight. Everything is soft and safe. J
Top 10 Groups
Take Off deserves to stay and
had proven so due to their performance tonight? I don’t think so. I still can’t
get over that play safe decision from Charice in the X Factor Philippines week 2 results night last week. Mark Mabasa deserves the slot among the top 10, vocals and
performance wise. As for Daddy’s Home, they will not be coming home just yet
indeed! AKAJAM (Ashley Campbell, Katrina Velarde, Alyssa Quijano, Jhelsea Maine
Flores, Auriette Divina, and Monique Lualhati) on the other hand had been consistently
delivering the goods since week 1 of the X Factor Philippines live performance.
Top 10 Over 25
Funny how one comment over X Factor
Philippines Facebook page questioned why would there be a need to categorize
contestants based on age, gender, etc.? Answer: Because that’s the format of
the show since X Factor UK. J Anyway, these factors don’t matter.
Modesto proves it so despite being already 55 of age. Joan on the other hand is
still relatively young and looks good with or without glasses.
It may turn out to be another disappointing
night tomorrow night but stay tuned nonetheless tomorrow for the X Factor Philippines top 10 results
night!
