In tonight’s X Factor Philippines
elimination night for week 5, only 7 contestants will remain from 8 at the end
of the show.
The program kicks off with the remaining 8
contenders singing a medley of OPM classic hits with Pinoy Rock icon Pepe
Smith. The voting closed soon after.
Who are safe?
Acts that are safe were then announced
after the break. The contestants who are safe to continue their journey next
week are as follows (in order of announcement):
KZ Tandingan
Daddy’s Home
Jeric Medina
Kedebon Colim
Allen Jane Sta. Maria
Gabriel Maturan
The names above are randomly announced and
not in accordance to vote count.
Bottom 2
So that means Joan Da and Take Off are in
the bottom for this week. For their performance to earn the judge’s save, Joan
offered her own rendition of Bruno Mars’ “Grenade” while Take Off sang “Sa
Kanya,” an Ogie Alcasid original.
Judges save
·
Ms.
Pilita saves her own act Joan, what a relief!
·
Gary
V. saves his group Take Off
·
Charice
saves Joan
·
Martin
saves Take Off
Charice pointed out that it’s already Take
Off’s third time in the bottom 2 and it is Joan’s first time. It was my
thoughts exactly. Although reviewing the previous posts, it’s actually the
second time in the bottom 2 for Joan. it was week 1 for Joan and week 2 and 4 for
Take Off. Gary on the other hand has a point that there’s more which can be
done with a band than with a solo artist. Martin agreed. The latter’s decision
is at least firm and didn’t sound like he just wanted to see a deadlock (see
week 2 and week 3 for other deadlocks). There was of course. The results showed that
Joan is a landslide ahead of Take Off when it comes to votes.

Although there is a point in the fact that there's more which can be improved for a band as compared to a solo act, I still can't get over Mark Mabasa's exit. I thought that despite the turn out of votes, he didn't deserve to be sent home that night and it should have been Take Off. I knew that this group's time will come anyway and there will only be one winner and so today is that day. But the thought of not seeing the bottom 2's voting count made me
think, could it be possible that the contestants who were sent home by virtue
of the judges votes were actually the ones who had more votes than the ones who
were saved? See week 1 with Joan against Jerianne and last week with Take Off versus Modesto. We will never know.
Anyway, that’s it for the X Factor
Philippines elimination night this week and let’s all wait and watch for next
week’s show.
