It’s the X Factor Philippines live show again,
now on its 8th week! I missed last week’s performance night (week 7)
but a recap of the 7th elimination night with Jeric Medina going
home can be read here.
Gary V. and
Martin Nievera only both have only one act remaining with Daddy’s Home and
Gabriel Maturan, respectively. Charice still has two, KZ Tandingan and Allen
Jane Sta. Maria. Ms. Pilita remains a judge but she is no longer a mentor since
all her talents have already gone home.
Going back to
tonight’s show, the theme is about music heroes. Each of the remaining four
finalists chose who or what they consider as heroes in music. But before any of
the four performances started, tonight’s episode opens up with Toni Gonzaga performing
Moulin Rouge.
After the
break, Allen Jane Sta. Maria and Daddy’s Home performed. Allen chose “Whip my
Hair” by Willow Smith while Daddy’s Home sang Journey’s “Open Arms.” As always,
Daddy’s Home delivers the same melody and harmony. Allen on the other hand had
selected a perfect song for her age and singing style.
Another break
and we’ve seen El Gamma Penumbra perform their signature song “Piliin mo ang
Pilipinas” by Angelie Quinto complete with their shadow play featuring different
scenic spots in the Philippines. If you watched Pinoy’s Got Talent Season 3,
this group was among the grand finalists.
Yet another commercial
break and its KZ Tandingan followed by Gabriel Maturan. It’s unlikely for a
soulful singer like KZ to choose Chris Brown as her musical hero but she
performed “Forever” while singing and dancing. Meanwhile, Gab also danced to
the tune of “Boyfriend” by Justin Bieber but his version is different. We heard
his vocal acrobatics again through a falsetto.
But as always,
your votes will determine who goes home for the X Factor Philippines live show this week by tomorrow night.
