If you have heard about the
upcoming CALA or Cavite-Laguna Expressway supposedly connecting the traffic
terrorized Cavite to Laguna and eventually to Tagaytay all the way towards
Batangas, then you should also be introduced to TPLEX or the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway. Once completed,
this will make it even faster to reach Baguio, Ilocos region, and other places
up north as soon as you exit Metro Manila. You can then drive via NLEX or the North
Luzon Expressway, followed by SCTEX or the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway, and
soon TPLEX.
I’ve seen a glimpse of the
expressway currently being constructed as it stretches over Agno River in
Carmen, Rosales, Pangasinan and passes by the dike protected Lipay, a little
barrio in the town of Villasis, Pangasinan. We’ve chanced upon it after
dropping by the Minuyungan Butterfly Sanctuary (which deserves a different
post) in the same barangay.
More information about this project is available through the WikiPedia TPLEX page. Speaking of which, this
non-profit org is in need of financial support to continue its operation. If
you have benefited from its information and wish to donate, you may do so here

Despite issues with toll
fee hikes in several expressways in the Philippines, particularly within Metro
Manila, GMA, and Luzon area, I still love these extended highways for the
convenience they offer. They help lessen if not ease heavy traffic flow and
makes travelling faster for public transports and business people. So I’m sure that
the upcoming TPLEX will benefit many as soon it’s open for the public.
