This Iron Man 3
review couldn’t be more memorable. It is the first day of its movie theater
release although it’s already the second show in the specific cinema we chose.
There was an electrical black out prior to the film showing which had caused a
long pause in the middle of the movie during the manual switching of operations
from the generator towards the actual electricity source. Lastly, there were 4
cinemas in this local SM mall catering to fans of the Iron Man movie franchise.
Speaking of which, can it be the end of the film series?

MK
Armors Destroyed
Why? This is because Tony Start ordered the ‘clean
slate’ command which meant destroying all of his MK armors. He had also come
face to face with the source of his recent panic or anxiety attacks. It was his
obsession/distraction in the form of metal gear. But he realized at the end of
the movie that it wasn’t even an obsession nor distraction, he compared it to a
cocoon where he slowly metamorphosed into the man he is now. No more of the
happy go lucky; one night stand playboy who slept with lady loves; and slams
aspiring scientists with empty promises like a deuce bag. The realization was
manifested at the end of the movie. You’ll miss it if you don’t stay after the
credits are rolled like I always do.
By the way, the movie’s setting is during Christmastime
so I’m sure this was supposedly billed for December 2012 but for whatever
reasons, it was delayed and only shown now.
3rd
Movie Sequel
Also, it is the 3rd movie sequel after all, not
including the Avengers which would it make it 4th. I’m sure that the
writers can still squeeze their creative juices if need be considering that the
comic strip version had several villains to boast of. But after the Avengers,
which is what I initially thought would culminate all Marvel related movies
including Thor, Captain America, and Hulk; it will be challenging to come up
with something fresh.
Robert Downey Jr.
Even Robert Downey Jr. is not getting any younger
getting closer to 50 at 48 the way Tommy Lee Jones wasn’t actively part of Men in Black 3 anymore last year. But anyway, he still looks great on the big screen.
There is Hope
But then again, there is still hope. Tony had salvaged
whatever remained from his machines after his home was utterly but not
completely destroyed when he threatened the world terrorist, the Mandarin and
gave up his home address. It wasn’t totally wrecked because only the
superficial architectural side was obliterated. The basement, which wasn’t
touched, was home and a safe haven for his toys down below. They helped him
rescue his love Pepper Potts and the U.S. president.
I was expecting something more obvious like Stark
tinkering stuffs again as if building a new MK but anyways, that ending scene
when he was driving away with a recovered armor loaded onto a crane is symbolic
of hope for a possible Iron Man 4 or maybe even another Avengers movie.
Iron Man 3 Plot
The movie introduces a new villain Aldrich Killian, the
same guy Stark promised a meeting at the rooftop of a building at Switzerland
in 1999. He was aided by the botanist Dr. Maya Hansen, a sort of fling for Tony
during the same time. She first introduced the concept of human repair aided by
a specific DNA. Killian built his AIM empire out of this study fueled by his
desperation after Stark didn’t show up during his promised meeting. The
research had been developed into the so-called Extremist. The experiment alters
human DNA and encourages natural, rapid repair, restoration, or replacement of damaged
or missing bodily parts. Even Killian transformed himself into an Extremist
guinea pig.
Killian is also in fact the same terrorist, the
Mandarin, and is only using a British actor with substance addiction to take
his role on camera as a front. The rest
of his troupes are Extremists. Yet the formula is not 100% perfect as some
specimen blew up to pieces and caused chaos everywhere.
But as you would expect, Iron Man saved the day but not
without the aid of old and new friends. These include Jarvis, his able AI
assistant; his close friend Col. James “Rhodey” Rhodes, who suits on with a re-branded War Machine now called Iron Patriot; Harley, a Rose Hill Tennessee
kid where one of the Extremist mishaps occurred; and an unexpected iron lady in
the Extremist experimented Pepper Potts. Tony was able to bring her back to
normal at the end. I wished they kept her that way though so she can defend
herself and not become a damsel in distress.
