Yes, this isn’t about the Vhong Navarro-Deniece
Cornejo-Cedric Lee love errr… hate triangle because there’s just too much written
about them all over the web already and the well followed soap doesn’t seem to
end.

So what is this about? It’s about the underlying factors
that deserve more attention than this whole brouhaha over the three main
characters and everyone else affected by them whether in entertainment,
business, and politics from past to present. Heck, even everyone can’t stop but
become psychological and criminal analysts because of this. But there are far greater
truths worth uncovering besides finding out who is the culprit and who is the
victim. Here are some of those truths:
1. #PrayforVhongNavarro. There’s an image shared by Sir Dong
Abay over Facebook earlier and it talks about how we use this hash tag all over
social media when we can’t even pray for ourselves. Blessed are those who
genuinely pray for Mr. Navarro but what about those who simply jump into the
bandwagon of hash tagging for this topic?
2. Balanced reporting and network war. It’s clear whose side
GMA 7 and ABS-CBN is with. Online, at least various media portals are ‘trying’
to exemplify balanced reporting by showing both sides of the coin. I know where
my money is but I’d rather not say. *zip*
3. Trial by publicity and
presumption of innocence until proven guilty. We all have laid the verdict already
by prejudging the case early on. Both sides are not completely innocent.
Remember that Vhong accepted an invitation to a woman’s condo not once but
twice with oral sex included during the first meeting despite the fact that he
has a girlfriend.
4. Women’s Rights. Gabriella
attempting to enter the picture to steal the limelight is done with distaste.
There are countless other women who need their attention other than Ms. Cornejo.
I’m sure everyone had noticed that they also automatically support popular women
who are allegedly abused without even investigating.
Also, speaking of women’s rights,
where is their concern when it comes to women who have handlers that finance
their physical transformation for fame, money, and make them gifts for men in
power in exchange for favors?
Update: Please see comments section for Atty. Foja of Gabriela's notes regarding the issue. My apologies for posting the seemingly biased view of your group in the statement above after watching and reading a similarly biased report about your stand on Ms. Cornejo's case. Apparently, the news report merely assumed and implied that you were siding with Deniece.

5. This is a national concern.
Whoever says this case isn’t worthy of our time is mistaken. The case of Lee’s
group who appear to be involved in procuring government projects is noteworthy.
Apparently, he had been involved in several attempted extortion of numerous
public officials. On top of that, BIR and Sec. Henares reappeared again like
mushroom, the way they did during Napoles’ case, eyeing possible tax evasion.
Does she have plans to run for a higher position? :)
Although there are other pressing national
issues that we can talk about such as David Tan’s rice smuggling case as well
as the latest Bangsamoro deal, there are also pointers that we can ponder upon
in relation to this case. It’s not about Vhong-Deniece-Cedric but it’s about notable
concerns revolving around them.

GABRIELA and GABRIELA WOMEN'S PARTY did not issue any statement in support of Deniece Cornejo. Last Wednesday, GMA7's Sandra Aguinaldo, interviewed me on RAPE 101. In that interview, I NEVER stated nor was I asked about Gabriela's support for Deniece. I was made to understand that Sandra was to do a public information segment about rape in general. That GMA7 allowed the publication of an online article stating that Gabriela expresses support for Deniece based on Sandra Aguinaldo's interview of me on RAPE 101 and that 24 Oras quoted my statement while showing footages of Deniece is DELIBERATELY MISLEADING and MALICIOUS.
I express my regrets that Gabriela and Gabriela Women's Party are dragged into this mess. In the past, I have generously entertained questions from GMA7 reporters even through text messages on legal questions that have nothing to do with my work for Gabriela (I just wanted to help) but what has happened with this interview is so disppointing and traumatic for me.
I am demanding an explanation and an apology from GMA7 for this. Please find below and feel free to share my statement.

We would like to call your attention to an article published online as well as a news report aired over 24 Oras last January 30, 2014 that explicitly stated our group's support for Ms. Deniece Cornejo. We would like to clarify that we issued no such statement.
It has been the long standing policy of Gabriela Women's Party and Gabriela National Alliance NOT to comment on issues that we have no first hand knowledge about. In this specific case between Ms. Deniece Cornejo and Mr. Vhong Navarro, neither parties have sought our assistance or opinion.
We would like to clarify that the interview conducted by your reporter, Ms. Sandra Aguinaldo, focused primarily on the issue of rape, advance questions relayed to me were even titled as "RAPE 101". I was likewise careful not to comment on the controversial case and even told Ms. Aguinaldo that I have not monitored it. The questions propounded to me were about rape and rape victims in general and my answers were made with no reference to any particular victim much less to Deniece. I was asked to explain how rape is committed, its impact and repercussions on the victims, the difficulty of filing cases and how the public should react to the victims' story.
Unfortunately, the interview, I believe was maliciously spun to make it appear that we in Gabriela are supporting Ms. Cornejo. While we appreciate the network's effort of having taken down the article immediately, we are calling for a public apology and a clarification from the network so that the audience may be enlightened on the truth. Moreover, we hope that the network will exercise caution in the treatment of future stories.
Respectfully,
Atty. Alnie Foja
Alnie G. Foja Appreciate your support. I need to get things right here. I do not like it that my dear Gabriela and Gabriela Women's Party are being put on the line because of some people's irresponsible reporting. Partly my fault for taking the call. Do not expect me to answer next time.
Alnie G. Foja Thank you all for sharing. I really just want people to know what really transpired.

Thank you very much po Atty. Foja for posting your side on the issue. It was indeed misleading for GMA7 to assume or imply that you support Deniece Cornejo. Kudos for Gabriela for continuously supporting women's right, regardless of the person's status in life (popular personality or not). It could be possible that we are only aware of famous persons you support but do not know about other women you help because it's not reported on the news. My apologies for any biased opinion about your group after seeing or reading similarly biased news reports.
