We loved Silantro Fil-Mex Cantina ever since we've tried several dishes at their Dagupan City branch. So it has been my foodie lover mission to try the menu from their main branch in Kapitolyo Pasig.
Baranggay Kapitolyo in Pasig City is a place to be when restaurant hopping. Numerous restaurants with various types of cuisine is represented in the area. It stretches from the West to the East Capitol Drive.
It's easy to spot those which are popular and possibly serves better meals compared to other dining places through the number of cars parked outside or people waiting in line to be served during lunch or dinner hours. Silantro Fil-Mex Cantina scored double check for these factors.
It wasn't a weekend when we drove off to Pasig. We had to battle traffic for almost 2 hours just to get there. As soon as we found the place, there were already several cars parked by the road side of Silantro Fil-Mex Cantina and there weren't any spot left nearby so we had to park infront of a local church chapel a few blocks away. There were also limited seats inside so customers had to sign a waiting list. They certainly need more space due to the number of diners visiting the place.

Good thing people don't spend as much time as they would when in coffee shops so we were seated after 10-15 minutes or so, I didn't really check. Other than the Mexican vibe instead, what got my attention were several male servers who are tattooed. While most food related business shut their door against people with tattoos, this place welcomes them. It's good to see a diner not discriminating against inked folks.
Pros
It's the food that I love most even if I'm not a fan of Mexican dishes. Calliente Wings is still my favorite.
hard shell taco completo (3 types of meat) |
Papi's Fritas |
Grilled Mahi-mahi |
Calliente Wings |
Cons
Both their branches share the same issues with regards to parking and numbers of seats. So I do hope they can consider finding a bigger place with more parking space.
