If you want to escape the extreme heat and the noise of the
city without even spending much, why not go to Seagull Mountain Resort in Buda, Marilog District, Davao City. The cold air minus the hustle and bustle of city life is what makes
this place a summer getaway for people in Davao.
LOCATION
The Seagull Mountain Resort is located in Buda, approximately
a two-hour drive from the city proper of Davao. You can take a bus going to
Bukidnon or Cagayan de Oro and tell the driver about your destination. They surely
know the resort. You can also drive if you have a car going there. The road is
all cemented as well with just few road bumps along the way. Some days, especially
on cold and rainy season, the place is filled with fogs, so better be alert
while driving up there.
AMBIENCE
The place is like the “little Baguio” of Davao. It is cold and
chilly as well as foggy some of the times. If you are on a date or simply want
to be one with nature with your entire families and friends, this is the place
to be. Even if it is in summer, always have a scarf or a light sweater with you
since the wind is still quite chilly. If you go there during the rainy season, it is
a must that you bring a jacket, especially if you want to stay
overnight since it will be pretty bleak during night time.
AMENITIES
The Seagull Mountain Resort has many amenities for you and
your companions to enjoy. There are natural swimming pools and a waterfall for
swimming. But please take note that the water is super cold since it came from
the mountain. There are some picnic huts for you to spend the day eating and drinking.
You can also stay for a few days because they have cottages for you to
rest and enjoy the place. But for us, since we just want to check out the place and
to escape this “El Niño” phenomenon for a few hours, we opted to just have our
lunch there.

RESTAURANT
A big cabin designed house just in front of the resort
is where you can find their restaurant. As you enter, you can feel the warm countryside
atmosphere. It is decorated with a fake fireplace to add to that cottage like
feeling.

The food is superb as well as very cheap. When we went there, quite a few groups of people were eating. Not bad since this place is in the middle of nowhere. We ordered Tinolang Native Na Manok (Chicken soup) as well as Lechon Kawali (Crispy Fried Pork). But the best seller in this place is their Suman at Sekwate (Sticky rice and Hot Chocolate). I really love their suman. It is not an ordinary suman that you can buy in the market. They put rice crispy as well as mascuvado sugar to make it tastier and unique – a must try from Seagull Mountain Resort.
