Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps Mall of Asia

It's a pleasant surprise to see Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps Mall of Asia, a restaurant serving crabs and shrimps south of the metro (in Mall of Asia), specially when you're craving for the usual butter or chili garlic sauce to go along with it; not to mention, eating everything by hand. 🤤

Issues Eating Crabs

The problem with eating crabs though are hard shells to crack and the mess it leaves on the table. This place solves those issues through a crab hammer and plastic wrappers.

Above is the in-house hammer and below are plastic aprons. You can wear the latter to keep the sauce from leaving stains on your clothes. You can also enjoy eating by hand, without any after-odor left, as disposable hand gloves will complete the free ensemble.

When I first saw the place, I thought they were affiliated with The Boiling Crab, a popular joint offering the same seafood dishes in the U.S. I watched one Korean food show feature the place. I remember also seeing a branch of this brand in Davao City. It turns out that all other locations are actually extensions and the famed place located in Davao is actually the main branch. This one in MoA is the second place to open in Metro Manila. There are now currently four in the metro (as of this post): CCP Complex in Pasay City, Greenhills in San Juan and SM City North EDSA in Quezon City.

As for the MoA branch, it's lined up among other restaurants so it can easily be found. Looking at the available seats, I believe there is enough space to accommodate a wave of diners during dining hours, particularly, weekend dinner.

And the food... well, I came here for the crabs and I got exactly the type of cooking I wanted: delicious buttery crab. The extender corn is a perfect pair too.

You can also choose a dip which suits your taste; well, at least, among a choice of various vinegar mixes like the basic garlic, sinamak (Ilo-ilo style spiced vinegar) and Cajun style. The latter is a famous cooking style (I always hear this in the show, MasterChef). Cajuns are of French origin and settled in Louisiana, USA (mostly New Orleans) back in the 1700's.

But like other similar dishes including the shrimp, it's greasy and may not be recommended for those on a diet or with health concerns.

There are other dishes available on the menu as well, such as chicken for the kids or anyone else who aren't into seafood, crabs and shrimps in particular

In terms of pricing, however, it's not as affordable as my old go-to place for seafood (the original Dampa, now sadly closed; but that's another story). You will probably need to shell out more or less ₱ 1000 for a solo meal.
