Maginhawa Street in Diliman, Quezon City is rich with dining options. And if you're looking for an all-American menu, Fat Cousins will not disappoint you.
Outside the door, it doesn't look intimidating. It exudes a fast food vibe inviting you in.
Inside, seats are limited but this may translate to a good thing --- people often dine at places they've heard good word for (much like word of mouth or via social media and review sites).
As for me, we honestly just passed by it after driving around in circles, deciding where to eat in this famed street. 😂
Menu
The menu mostly consists of American dishes such as chicken, steak, sausage, roast beef, burger, mash potato, fries and more.
While steaks are presented like most plates elsewhere are (i.e. rice or mash potato and other side dishes; it's veggies in my photos), Fat Cousins serve a distinct gravy. I can't think of any other brand to compare it with, or maybe I need to try more places. 😅
The steaks are delicious and melts like butter. They're cooked perfectly in my opinion; not overcooked, not rare either. While most culinary folks prefer medium rare (or maybe I've watched too many MasterChef seasons), we Pinoys love it done or even well done.
Serving
Serving size doesn't seem to be proportionate with the name of the brand though. It may not be enough for those with large appetite.
History
I pointed out serving size because as I've read, the restaurant's name are literally because of the founders; the Mojica cousins who are plump with a voracious appetite.
They started in July 2015 and now have 3 branches.
Aside from the original location in Maginhawa, they also have a branch in Parang, Marikina and Masinag, Antipolo.
Pricing
Pricing is definitely affordable when compared with the quality of the food served.
Service
As for the service, there is a significant waiting time; it certainly isn't fast food type. So don't head out here if you're really hungry and don't have time to wait.
