Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner
I first stumbled upon this brand while looking for a toner. I came across the Glycolic Acid variant and tried it along with the Drying Lotion. The first bottle works as promised so it became a repeat purchase, even after the product has been reformulated and the bottle container has slightly been changed too.
What I like about the product is of course the active ingredient, glycolic acid which works as a milder type of exfoliator; removing dead cells to reveal a fresher skin layer. It's recommended to treat pimple related scars and minimize skin aging signs like age spots, fine lines and wrinkles. However, it may feel uncomfortable when applied and the effect varies per user. Like other Alpha Hydroxy Acid types, this one can cause itching, swelling or cause skin redness and discoloration, so make sure to conduct the standard 24-hour test (apply and wait for your skin's reaction) before continuing usage.

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion
The other product featured in this post, Drying Lotion is a good pair for the toner, specially when dealing with pimple or acne breakouts. This one is a quick solution to dry out pimples fast. While you can notice the difference hours after applying, don't expect it to be an overnight miracle worker though. You still need to apply it several times diligently. Don't worry, because the concentration for one of the active ingredients, salicylic acid, is within safe percentage amount so it can be safely applied and left on overnight; not unless your skin shows an allergic or adverse reaction to it after the first application.
Other ingredients include sulfur and zinc oxide and calamine. The latter is known to reduce itchiness, which is why this is the same ingredient found in some anti-itch creams or lotions. Salicylic acid on the other hand works best to unclog pores so it may be better for blackheads and whiteheads but are also used to shrink pimples (WebMD).
